Guidelines:
You are expected to meet with your coaches to learn the specific guidelines for your category and to prepare to compete. Coaches are here to help you deliver your best performance!
Be sure to dress professionally for the meets - no jeans, t-shirts, and/or athletic shoes! Participants should wear khakis, dress pants, slacks or skirt with collared shirt, button down shirt, blouse or nice top.
Remember to bring your scripts and any materials needed for your performance. Bring money if you'd like to purchase concessions.
Scripts for Group Interp, Poetry, Prose, Farrago should be backed with black or dark blue construction paper. If you're in a category where a notecard is allowed, your notecard MUST be on paper (no devices). See your coach for supplies if needed.
When you arrive at the meet, find a place to sit and stay put for a few minutes until your coaches have handed out schedules, maps, etc. After you've received your materials, you can go find your performance locations, buy food, use the restroom, etc. as needed. Be sure you are on time to your rounds.
Always go quietly through the halls and watch your fellow performers with respect. Cell phones and electronic noisemaking devices should be OFF.
Remember you are a guest at these events - be clean!
Advancement
Beginning at Subdistrict, a participant/entry must earn 16 or more points from two of the three adjudicators in a three-round festival to advance to District. At District, a student must earn 20 or more points from two of the three adjudicators to advance to State. At the State meet, you only perform once.
