Design and Construction Updates

Our theme for the 2025–2027 school years, Empowering Minds, Building Futures, perfectly reflects the exciting work happening across the Lake Mills Area School District! Beyond the incredible learning taking place in classrooms, we’ve also been busy bringing to life the projects made possible by our community through the November 2024 Referendum. 

Thanks to favorable interest rates at the time of the bond sale, the $51.2 million referendum carries a $0 tax impact.

Construction is Underway!

Work has officially begun at the Lake Mills Elementary School, the Lake Mills High School auditorium, and the new Bus Barn location.

Next Steps Include: 

  • Early Learning Addition at Lake Mills Elementary School: Construction is on track for completion for the start of the 2026-2027 school year
  • Bus Barn: Located on three acres off Oasis Lane, the new facility is expected to be completed by spring 2026. 
    • Current Bus Barn: The existing facility at the high school will be razed in the summer of 2026.
  • Lake Mills High School: 
    • Auditorium: The lighting and sound upgrades from summer 2025 are nearing completion, with the final work expected to be completed by late fall 2025.
    • Gym: The lower gym will be removed during spring break 2026, and the new two-station gym is expected to open in fall 2027. 
  • Lake Mills Middle School: Renovations are scheduled for the summer of 2026.
