3nd Grade Teacher Email Phone: (920)648-2338 ext 416 Hello Parents,
My name is Jo Anne Russo and I am one of the third grade teachers here in Lake Mills Elementary School. I am originally from New York State but feel when I moved to Lake Mills in 1995, I came home. I absolutely love Wisconsin, love Lake Mills, and, most importantly, love our school district! I have been involved in many committees over the years in this district as I am not one to be uninvolved and believe we are a forward thinking district and school. We have often been on and continue to be on the cutting edge of the educational needs of our students. I am a proud employee of the Lake Mills Area School District and the Elementary School.
Personally, I have three kids who are out making their way in the world today. My oldest, Greg, was married to Carly in March of 2016. My middle son, Jake, has an adorable son named Solomon Jude, who is 7 years old. Sadly, we don't see them as often as I would like as they live in Eau Claire. My baby is my daughter Alyssa, who is a graduate of University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee. She is currently working and living in Milwaukee. My husband, Mike, is an employee of Hamlin and is working on the transfer of the Hamlin production to the Phillipines. We also are dog lovers and currently have a Munsterlander, a German hunting dog named Maggie, and Boomer, a black labrador retriever. Needless to say, they keep us hopping!
Through our district and building, I have had the opportunity to participate in some very beneficial training opportunities. Currently we are developing skills in the reading workshop as part of Teacher's College. I love the workshop approach as it gives me time to present the lesson and follow-up with the kids while they are exploring and developing their skills through real practice. After they start their practice, I go around and have conferences and do small group work. I love movement in my room and I really push for independency with their work.
I am excited for this school year to begin and welcome support, discussions, concerns on what is happening in my room. Please feel free to use my contact information at any time. I will try to get back to you as soon as I can.
