Hi! My name is Kirsten Steinke. This is my fifth year as part of the Lake Mills High School Math Department and my 18th year of teaching overall. I'm very excited to be back this year and am ready to teach you and learn from you!
While I love teaching mathematics and creating exciting and investigative lessons surrounding the beauty of mathematical thinking, my passion for cultivating a love of life-long learning and persistence in achieving excellence is what drives each of my lessons and my experiences with you. I will work hard each day to meet you where you are as learners, listen to you and get to know you as people, and strive to create a classroom and learning experience that is safe, encouraging, and supportive.
I am always happy to help outside of school hours, whether it's one-on-one help in the mornings or after school, or emailing questions and resources to help support you. Please seek help as soon as you need it and in whatever way makes sense to support your learning. Please also remember to refer to your resources (notes, Google Classroom page, friends, etc.). You are not alone in learning and getting help!
When I'm not engaging in school work, I love to be with my family. I have a husband, Colin, and a three-year-old daughter Morgan, and a double-doodle named Riley. My family and I love to be outside exploring and adventuring. We love to hike, bike, mountain bike, kayak, run, and definitely play disc golf. We're still figuring out how to have all of this fun with a toddler in tow, but we're making it work! If it's raining, I'll be playing and reading with Morgan, reading a good book of my own, or watching the Office or something funny!
Can't wait to meet and work with you this year, and GO L-CATS!
Mrs. Steinke
